Ian Smith the Festival Founder and Artistic Director plans to launch his new book featuring a lifetime of Gilbert and Sullivan and in particular 25 years of the Festival. During the life me of the Festival we really have “sailed the ocean blue” taking G&S to San Francisco, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Gettysburg, Lanzarote, Eastbourne, Buxton and Harrogate. Our final concert in 2018 features G&S highlights and memories of 25 happy years.

Don’t miss this classic melodrama performed by the G&S Opera Company. Sir Despard Murgatroyd has inherited a witch’s curse forcing him to commit a crime a day or die in agony, but his shy, unassuming elder brother Robin, believed to be dead, is discovered to be alive and living nearby. Robin must now step into his rightful place and assume the title of the Bad Baronet of Ruddigore and either commit a crime every day or submit to the horrible consequences meted out by the terrifying ghosts of his ancestors.

Be prepared for a delightfully entertaining and traditional production of this much-loved comic opera directed by Richard Gauntlett and conducted by Andrew Nicklin
